The key scripture about becoming fishers of men is found in the Gospels when Jesus calls His first disciples.
Matthew 4:19 (NASB 1995)
"And He said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’"
Expanded Context (Matthew 4:18-20)
"Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon, who was called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. And He said to them, ‘Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.’ Immediately they left their nets and followed Him."

Luke 5:10 (NASB 1995)

What Does "Fishers of Men" Mean?
Jesus used the metaphor of fishing because Peter, Andrew, and other disciples were professional fishermen. Instead of catching fish, Jesus called them to "catch" people for God’s kingdom—bringing them into salvation through the Gospel.
-
Fishing requires patience → Evangelism often takes time.
-
Fishing requires strategy → Different people require different approaches.
-
Fishing requires commitment → Spreading the Gospel is a lifelong mission.
